WALL CLADDING OVERSPRAY WITH GIROMAX IN DUDLEY

Coverclad Services was contracted to refurbish the rear elevation of a retail unit in Dudley, through replacement of damaged and non-uniform wall cladding panels and a Giromax overspray.

Replacement of the damaged and non-uniform wall cladding panels took a three-man team of our Coverclad wall cladding installers a couple of days to complete. The panels were interlocked and needed to be dismantled from the top down in order to reach the replacement areas, then rebuilt back up after the replacements were fitted (uniform used panels were removed from the front elevation as part of other phased works and re-used to help keep costs down – once sprayed with Giromax results were excellent).

The Giromax Girocoat overspray included jet wash cleaning and thoroughly preparing the panel surfaces, spraying with a specialist chemical bonding and keying agent, then applying primer and the Giromax top layers. This overspray stage of the works took a two-man team one week to complete, and we also installed new base flashings over the low-level brick wall and parapet cappings as part of the job.

Various old redundant penetrations to wall cladding

Before view showing various redundant penetrations (only one was being used). We striped down the wall cladding bays to replace the relevant sections with uniform panels that were removed from the front elevation as part of other phased works, then built the bays back up again. We also formed new openings and trimmed around where needed.

Old air conditioning cage bolted to base flashing

Before close-up view of the old air conditioning cage bolted against the base flashing. The demolition contractor removed the cage and associated AC units to enable us to gain access. We installed new base flashings over the low-level brick wall as part of our works.

Historic wall cladding repairs to unit rear elevation

Before view of historic wall cladding repairs to the rear elevation (the historic isolated repair with blue showing through and the red wall cladding panel). We stripped down the bay wall cladding to replace the relevant sections with the uniform panels, and built back up.

Random wall cladding panel used to repair rear elevation area

Before view of a random panel that was sourced and used to repair a section of the rear elevation. Again we removed this panel through the same strip down and replace process.

Giromax preparation first phase jet wash

Giromax preparation stage, first phase; wall cladding jet wash. A scissor lift is used to gain access to the entire cladding wall.

Second phase wall cladding jet wash

Mid-way through the second phase of the wall cladding jet wash using the turbo lance. Under advisement from the Giromax representative we applied a specialist chemical bonding agent to the exposed metal areas of delamination to act as a keying agent before priming and spraying with Giromax.
