ASBESTOS ROOFING OVERCLAD IN REDDITCH

Coverclad Services was contracted to carry out an asbestos roofing overclad in Redditch. The existing mono-pitched asbestos roof spanned two warehouse units and totalled approx. 1000 square metres (500 each). The decision to overclad was due to water ingress and to aid with asset management of the building.

Our tasks were to first replace the existing old fibrous roof lights with new (to act as internal roof light skins), and to then install a traditional built-up overclad system to the mono-pitched asbestos roof. Grid bars, additional insulation and 0.7mm plastisol coated metal roof sheets (in goosewing grey) were installed, and within the overclad system we fitted new GRP roof lights (to act as outer roof light skins). Other fixings included new dektites, soaker flashings and a new trim line gutter system to the full length of the building.

New GRP roof lights installed to asbestos roofing

Progress of works with old fibrous roof lights to the asbestos roofing removed and replaced with new single skin GRP roof lights. They acted as the new inner roof light skins to the overclad system. Also notice the historic temporary repairs to the asbestos sheet edges by previous contractors (in an attempt to rectify water ingress issues).
